Chunkin' Punkins

Yeah, you missed it again. The 2005 Punkin Chunkin World Championship recently was held outside Millsboro, Delaware. Don't be confused by the Morton, Illinois pumpkin festival or the Nekoosa Wisconsin Toss. This is the real deal.

We're not tawkin -- I mean talking --
ordinary tosses here. The air cannons entered in this contest can chunk your pumpkin almost a mile. The more traditional catapults and trebuchets can launch an 8 to 10 pound pumpkin over 2000 feet. Of course, it is unlikely that they would perform as well with the world record pumpkin. 1469 pounds of squash would do just that if it fell on you.

If that doesn't frighten you off, you can learn how to chunk properly at this site.
