A Skunk by Any Other Name ...

Everyone, it seems, is buzzing about anticipated indictments of top-level Bush Administration officials in the Valerie Plame scandal. The money bets are being placed on either presidential senior advisor and Prince of Darkness Karl Rove; vice-presidential chief of staff Lewis "Scooter" Libby; or both. Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is expected to wrap up his investigation by the end of the month.

However, I have a far more important concern: How does someone who goes by the nickname "Scooter" ever get a White House job? Shouldn't he be a cartoon character or an unemployed redneck?

Ever see the movie "The Distinguished Gentleman"? Anytime I hear Scooter's name mentioned, I think of that movie.

For the record, I expect both Libby and Rove to be indicted. Of course, a grand jury is capable of indicting a turnip so the indictment means little. Whether or not they will be convicted is a different question, and I certainly don't have enough information to make that prediction.
