Déjà Flu

Rampant cronyism is nothing new in DC. Usually, the result is even more inefficiency in government programs. Fortunately, we rarely discover that some nincompoop was nominally in charge of a critical agency because we are lucky enough to dodge the random bullet. Yet the outcome is not always benign. Sometimes it is deadly.

Transparent Grid has identified yet another questionable appointment at a frontline agency, this time the Assistant Secretary for Public Health Emergency Preparedness. Incompetent or inexperienced appointees in critical health-related jobs can undermine the nation's response to an outbreak of avian flu or other deadly diseases. They should not be tolerated by Congress, the president or the voters. And the the mainstream media should be doing its job to expose and root out these political travesties before they end up killing more Americans.
